NB: The conference will be held in English.

The Pontifical Athenaeum of Sant’Anselmo in Rome will host a special guest lecture by Professor Luigino Bruni on Monday, 30 June 2025, from 17:00 to 18:30, to mark the tenth anniversary of its signature programme, Leadership and the Rule of Saint Benedict. Since its founding, more than 260 Benedictine leaders from around the globe have taken part in this intensive 14-day course, which blends theological study with practical leadership training rooted in the Benedictine tradition.

Bruni, Professor of Political Economy at LUMSA University in Rome and Vice President of the “Economy of Francesco” foundation, brings a distinctive voice to this milestone event. A prolific scholar and historian of economic thought, his work spans economic theory, biblical commentary and ethical reflections on capitalism. His lecture, titled Ora et Labora: Navigating Between the Spiritual and Economic Side of Life, will explore the enduring tension between interior spiritual life and the practical demands of economic existence—an issue with particular resonance for monastic leaders today.

The talk, delivered in English, will last approximately 45 minutes and will be followed by time for questions and discussion. Refreshments will be offered afterwards.
