On the occasion of the Solemnity of Sant’Anselmo, the community of Sant’Anselmo was blessed with an article by Antonio Tarallo entitled “Sant’Anselmo on the Aventine, when singing makes you love God”. Tarallo writes:

“On the Aventine stands the church of Sant’Anselmo, which, together with the adjoining monastery, is the seat of the Abbot Primate of the Benedictine Order. From these walls Gregorian chant resounds strongly, giving glory to God and helping to love Him. A bit like a prayer from the saint to whom the church is dedicated and whose liturgical memorial recurs today.”

  • Two Residents celebrate First Masses

    Early in October, two newly-ordained residents celebrated their first Masses at Sant'Anselmo. Fathers Gregorio Carrizal, of Christ in the Desert, and John George, of the Abbey of Saint Gregory the Great, Downside, continued the Catholic tradition of blessing those in attendance.   • Fr. Elijah Owens Elected Abbot of Subiaco Abbey, USA

    Father Elijah Owens, OSB, was elected by the monastic chapter on Thursday, 7 June 2022, as the eighth abbot of Subiaco Abbey. Abbot Elijah lived at Collegio Sant’Anselmo from 2014-2021 while he was studying at the Monastic Institute in the Faculty of Theology.
