Saint Benedict sets a dauntingly high standard for the superior. They must show learning in divine law, skilful care and inspiring leadership, to name just some of the skills required.
This course provides insights into aspects of monastic leadership that a new superior is expected to know but probably doesn’t. The course has three pillars: the Rule’s teaching on superiors; the canon law relevant to monastic leadership; and psychology for leaders. Underpinning these will be the wisdom of the group helping each other to address the situation in their monasteries.
