To celebrate the Solemnity of the Transitus of Saint Benedict, the Sant’Anselmo community was pleased to welcome S.E. Cardinal Angelo De Donatis to preside over the Mass and to join us for our festive lunch.

Abbot Primate Gregory Polan OSB welcomed Cardinal De Donatis at the opening of the Mass: “Cardinal De Donatis, we are very pleased to have you with us on the occasion of this celebration so important for the Benedictines. And we thank you for your precious work as Vicar General of His Holiness for the Diocese of Rome and for the whole Church.”

Also in attendance were Dr. Bernhard Kotsch, German ambassador to the Holy See; The Most Reverend Father Jos Wouters, abbot general of the Premonstratensian Canons Regular; Reverend Father Thomas Bailey, pro-rector of the Pontifical Greek College; The Reverend Father Benoît Malvaux, SJ, attorney general of the Society of Jesus and confessor of Collegio Sant’Anselmo; Commander Lieutenant Dr. Sebastiano Luca d’Aleo of the Carabinieri Command of the Aventine Station and his colleague; and Dr. Roberto Lomolino, coordinator of the Oblates of Sant’Anselmo.

The community of Sant’Anselmo would like to thank Cardinal De Donatis and all of our esteemed guests for making our celebration worthy of the memory of our Patron, Saint Benedict.
